Mark Hyatt was born and raised in South Florida. He has been a resident of Plantation for 25 years. He and his wife, Katherine, have been married for 26 years. They have two children: Matthew (15) and Melissa (12).
Mark is from a family of volunteers. His brother, Steve, was the Past President of the Coconut Grove Jaycees and Chairman of the South Florida Chapter of the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation. His sister, Jane Zimmerman, was the Past President of the Plantation Junior Women’s Club for 8 years and a leader of parent volunteers for 11 years in the Plantation school system serving as the Student Advisory Forum Chairman. Jane served as a leader for Easter Seals Foundation.
Mark and Kathy have opened their home to bring Plantation residents, families and others together during the holiday season at their spectacular holiday display. It is a labor of love that they have engaged in for 20 years.
Mark and Kathy have operated a small business focusing on real estate and mortgage banking. It is headquartered in Plantation. He seeks to use the same fiscal responsibility on the City Council as he and his wife have used to run their business. He will bring the same concern about spending our tax dollars as he and his wife bring to their family budget.
Mark seeks to focus on the word “servant” in the term public servant. Mark will work for you, the residents of Plantation Florida. The citizens of Plantation are the boss. Every letter, email, text and personal visit will be responded to promptly. Mark will treat this valuable communication as if it was one of his clients communicating with his business. Mark will ensure that no Plantation resident will be ignored, threatened, defrauded or humiliated by their city government. His attitude about public service was inspired by his late mother, Lynne Hyatt Bello, a leader in the City of Hallandale, Florida and a candidate for the City Commission 46 years ago.
Mark and Kathy are proud residents of Plantation and know we are all in this together to make our city as great as it can be!
